It was an announcement that bombarded the planet of football. On February 18, Ghanaian football player Christian Atsu was found dead under the rubble of his home in Hatay, in southern Turkey. The striker was one of many victims of the earthquake that devastated the country on February 6. This statement was even more shocking because initially the former Chelsea player was announced live by the Ghana Embassy in Turkey and the Ghana Football Federation. This information upset many in the football world, former teammates or simple rivals. Among them is Red Devils forward Romelu Lukaku, who has stood shoulder to shoulder with Atsu in the English premier league Chelsea and Everton. This Saturday, February 18, he dedicated his goal from the penalty spot against Inter forward Udinese to his friend and raised his arms to the sky.
He also posted a moving message on social media. Adding captions to a few frames, Lukaku wrote on Instagram: “Rest in peace bro”. “It’s hard to accept… It was incredible to be around you”Without finishing his words, he continued: “May God give your children and family all the strength… God bless your soul. I love you forever”. Other players paid tribute to Christian Antsu this weekend. Thus, Muhammad Qudus (22) had a thought for his former compatriot. The Ajax player, after scoring a fantastic free kick against Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday, released a jersey that reads: “RAP Atsu”. More than 43,000 people died in the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, according to a recent report.

Kudus takes his first free kick for Ajax perfectly from the top corner. He can’t do almost anything wrong right now.
What a beautiful goal and a moment of silence for his friend Christian Atsu, who lost his life in the earthquake in Turkey.
