Alan Carr Lands debut on BBC Primetime Quiz with ‘Picture Slam’

Alan Carr landed his first prime time quiz show for the BBC, an image format in which contestants correctly identify images.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Judge is the host Photo Slam by Ben Shephard and Ed De Burgh’s Triple Brew Media and OMG Scotland.

Teams are given a board full of images that they must correctly identify against the clock. If they complete a board with the correct answers for a “Picture Slam” they will receive a cash bonus. Only the team that makes it to the final will go home with a share of their bankroll, and if they get all the necessary shots, they will take home the jackpot of up to £10,000 ($12,100).

Filming will begin later this year at Glasgow’s new Pacific Quay Studios.

Carr has never hosted a BBC quiz on Saturday and the news will cast doubt on the future of his ITV entertainment show Alan Carr’s Epic Game Show, a collection of game shows mostly from the Fremantle catalogue. Carr also stars in the ITV sitcom change endsbased on his life as the son of a lower-class football manager.

“Alan is perfect for a game that will have the whole family screaming in front of the TV,” said De Burgh and Shephard, whose label is backed by Objective Media Group and All3Media. “It’s fun and addictive and appeals to viewers of all ages.”

Executive producers are Julie Kelling, De Burgh and Shephard for Triple Brew Media and Toby Stevens for OMG Scotland. Adeel Amini is the series producer. The BBC’s editor-in-chief is Neil McCallum and the series is distributed by All3media International.
