From older as “101 Dalmatians: more alive than ever!” to newer ones like ‘The Lion King’, there are several animated projects that have been adapted into live action over the years. The latest title to join the long list is one of DreamWorks Animation’s most popular sagas, ‘How to Train Your Dragon’, the trilogy starring the young Viking Hiccup and his dragon Toothless, a nocturnal fury. Although it has just been publicly announced that the project is in development, we already know some of the creative team and the Expected release date: March 14, 2025.

For the happiness of the fans of the saga, Dean DeBlois, director and writer of the three animated episodes, takes care of these two functions in the live action adaptationas well as being a producer. In addition to the director’s work in “How to Train Your Dragon”, his direction and screenplay in “Lilo and Stitch” and his story in “Mulan” stand out. Marc Platt, one of the producers of ‘Star City: La La Land’, ‘Bridge of Spies’ and ‘The Chicago 7 Trial’ is also a producer. There are no further details on the film yet.
‘How to Train Your Dragon’, which is a film adaptation of Cressida Cowell’s books, has also had spin-offs in the form of animated series and short films. The saga received three Academy Award nominations in the Best Animated Feature category, one for each installment. In the economic section, each film grossed $494 million, $621 million, and $521 million, respectively, globally.

In “How to Train Your Dragon,” the story revolves around Hiccup, a Viking teenager who lives on an island where fighting dragons and hunting them is the way of life. The young man’s personality and his inability to fight these creatures make Hiccup an outcast and she has no support from virtually anyone in the village, much less the chief, who is also her father. Furthermore, the situation is further complicated when Hiccup befriends an injured dragon, a Night Fury, one of the most dangerous and deadly dragon races according to legend.
