Disney CEO Bob Iger said today he is ready to sell Hulu — rather than pay billions of dollars to buy out Comcast’s stake in the streaming platform.
Asked on CNBC about his plans for Hulu as the 2024 deadline to buy or sell approaches, he said: “It’s all on the table right now, so I’m not going to speculate whether we’re a buyer or a seller on this No. But I have clearly indicated that I am concerned about indiscriminate mainstream entertainment, especially in the competitive landscape we operate in, and we will look at it very objectively and comprehensively.
When moderator David Faber asked if he would be interested if Comcast CEO Brian Roberts inquired about buying Disney’s stake, Iger said, “We’d be open-minded.”
Faber noted that Disney was expected to buy the remaining stake in Hulu. “And I guess I’m suggesting that’s not necessarily the case,” Iger said.
