EXCLUSIVE: The third season of the Emmy-nominated crime thriller from Disney+ Hotstar arya approaches.
We have the first teaser for the season, which was first announced in mid-2022. We can also reveal that it is now back under the Hotstar Specials banner.
The short, stylized clip focuses on the titular Aarya Sareen (Sushmita Sen) in powerful boss mode. First we see her painted nails loading pistols and lighting a cigar before the camera switches to a full shot of the smoking and generally poised crime boss.
arya, a co-production of Endemol Shine India and Ram Madhvani Films, has been a hit for Indian streamer Disney+ Hotstar since its launch in 2020, although it did not feature in the Top 15 Hindi Streaming Series of 2022 from Mumbai for a list by Ormax Media, which we reported on earlier this month. The first season received an international Emmy nomination.
The series is based on an award-winning Dutch crime thriller Penoza. It follows Aarya as she transforms from a loving mother to a fearless mafia queen after her drug lord husband is killed. The new seasons ask, “Is she in danger or is she the danger?”

“After and of Season 3 of arya is too special for me and my team,” said series creator Ram Madhvani. “I am grateful to our audience for showing their love and continued interest in Aarya Sareen’s journey and development. I can promise them that they will be asking for more seasons afterwards.”
