Rick Leventhal, the former Fox News correspondent and husband of the former The Real Housewives of Orange County Star Kelly Dodd, was involved in a car accident. The journalist shared a video from the hospital giving an update to his fans.
“I am so happy to be alive and grateful for the good wishes and care I receive. 4 broken ribs, broken right leg, bruised pride. That’s it for now,” he captioned the Instagram post.
Leventhal explained that he was driving in the rain on I-10 outside Palm Desert, California, when he “hit what felt like a piece of ice.”
He continued, “The red was slick. Lost control and hit the wall hard. Started spinning across the tracks and crashed straight into the back of a trailer truck… Broken window, both airbags deployed, I think I broke my ribs from the airbags.
Leventhal said the truck driver helped him out of his totaled car.
Leventhal’s wife Dodd was not with him. Based on her Instagram stories, the former Bravo star is in Aspen. She responded to Leventhal’s Instagram post: “I’m so sad I’m not with you.”
On Dodd’s own Instagram profile, she shared photos of the car Leventhal was driving. Dodd also announced that the podcast, which she hosts with her husband, will not go live after the “horrific car accident” he was involved in.
Speaking on her Instagram stories, Dodd said: “I’ve been getting a lot of texts and Rick has four broken ribs and a broken foot. He’s going to be fine. He’s going to be fine, just take it easy. I’m so grateful. Terrible, terrible. Thank God he’s fine.”
Dodd’s former RHOC Co-star Vicki Gunvalson responded by saying: “Oh no! Thank God he’s fine. I’m praying for a speedy recovery.”
Brandi Redmonds The Real Housewives of Dallas said, “He has picked him up, dear friend.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey Star Margaret Josephs added: “So scary to send prayers.”
Earlier RHOC Personality Gretchen Rossi said: “Oh no, sending prayers. Hope he’s doing well.”
