‘The Irrational’ drama starring Jesse L. Martin gets NBC series order

NBC picked up the drama pilot The irrationalwith Jesse L. Martin, up to the series.

the irrational, by Arika Lisanne Mittman, was ordered to fly in February and the signs were good for a series order. As Deadline previously reported, a small room was set up in the fall to create some backup scripts and the broadcast options, which were set to expire in October, have been extended through the end of this month.

Written by Mittman, The irrational based on bestselling author Dan Ariely Predictably irrational. The show follows Alec Baker (Martin), a world-renowned professor of behavioral sciences who brings his expertise to a series of high-profile cases involving governments, law enforcement and corporations with his unique and unexpected approach to understanding human behavior.

Other lead roles are played by Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz and Arash DeMaxi.

Martin is also producing the pilot. Mittman is producing with Mark Goffman and Samuel Baum, while Ariely serves as a consultant. David Frankel is directing and also executive producing. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio.

The irrational and procedural drama Got it, starring Shanola Hampton, is among NBC’s six off-cycle pilots to receive series commissions. The network aired drama uninterrupted and Clean start.
