The guide to FINALLY choosing the right size of jeans on the Internet

How do you know which jeans size to choose when ordering online? Here are some tips to stop cycling in sauerkraut.

Buying on the Internet has many advantages: it’s fast, you’re spoiled for choice, often a greater variety of sizes… But it’s also potentially hell, especially for the pantssince we cannot prove them.

Even though most brands offer free returns, you can end up subject to the e-shopper’s great evil: laziness. So, to avoid having to drag yourself to La Poste, it’s best to do so know your size.

Easier said that done ? Not exactly ! Above all, it takes some time. Here are some tips to help you!

Tall, Curve, Petite, how to make the distinction?

More and more brands on the web are adapting to the customer’s morphology (sing Hallelujah, singas they say).

There is a possibility to get clothes directly designed for your size (1m62 for me, for example), and it is in particular length of the leg which will vary.

The term Small designates models intended for people measuring an average of 1m60 or less. Align tall will speak to those 1m70 or more. Finally the lines Curved or plus size are designed for “large sizes” – usually from 46.

Know how to take measurements

Knowing if you have a specific category of e-shop to address paves the way for you… but to narrow your searches, you have to measure yourself !

Grab a tape measure (or failing that, a string and ruler) and follow the guide. You will measure the waist, hips and leg length at the crotch. Hip tip: Measure where the bone is strongest, about 20cm below your hollow waist.

Know the correspondence between sizes

Now that you have your measurements, you can put your finger on the size that’s right for you!

Unfortunately, it would not make sense to copy/paste the “measurements-sizes” correspondence tables, as they are not the same depending on the brand.

size differences

Demonstration.

You will have understood it, you might as well compare your measurements directly with the table of the brand that attracts your attention. To help you, here are the general correspondences between UK, US and EU sizes.

Know your English (UK) size.

It may happen that the US size also show as below. The advantage is that if you oscillate between two dimensionsyou can choose the middle ground!

For example, if you are a small 36, you may choose a 26. If a 38 is a little too small for you but a 40 is already too big, you may choose a 29. Etc.

Remember that its size may vary from one sign to another

I bring a small nuance to this guide because unfortunately the sizes can differ from one brand to another. How to buy online when do we risk making a 40 in one but a 42 in the other?

The safest thing is to try on in the store and write down your size on such a brand for such a model (because between jeans and other jeans, or jeans and classic trousers, there are differences).

We can’t escape the 100% fitting box, but having taken our measurements and knowing what fits us, we stand a much better chance of hitting the mark!

Check out the composition

This applies to all purchases, in stores and on the web.

Qu is not a word’jeans contain elastane, you have the possibility that it stretches more or less, especially on very close-fitting cuts like slim or skinny… But luckily there’s a little in the composition, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to move well! It’s just that around the waist, buttocks and leg, the fabric will be a little looser.

That doesn’t mean you have to go down a size to make sure it doesn’t get too big, but you can plan ahead—aka keep this inevitable evolution in the back of your mind and buy a small belt.

Otherwise, you can opt for older style cuts and marks, 100% cottonsuch as Levi’s, Lee Cooper or even Monki, which offer a very “serious 90s” look!

That’s it, this non-exhaustive guide to know your jeans size is over! Calling all the chicks who often order on the net: what is your technique to choose the right size of your fute?
