The end is here. Netflix has released the second trailer for the fifth and final season of Stranger thingsand it looks absolutely wild. The Upside Down is no longer hiding in the shadows, it’s coming into the real world.
The trailer promises an explosive final showdown that will push every Hawkins hero to their limits. Set to a haunting rendition of Queen’s “Who Wants to Live Forever,” the trailer sets the tone for what’s to come.
Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) is back, stronger than ever and ready to bring his twisted world into ours. The stakes couldn’t be higher as Mike (Finn Wolfhard) declares: “find Vecna and put an end to this once and for all.”
But victory will not be easy. The footage shows the Demogorgons tearing apart soldiers trying to contain the quarantined Hawkins. Luca (Caleb McLaughlin) clings to a comatose Max (Sadie Sink) as a Demo-dog lunges towards them in a hospital hallway.
Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Hopper (Davide Porto) seem to be conducting their own dangerous mission in the depths of the Upside Down, while Joyce (Winona Ryder) struggles to keep the situation together because he fears for his son Will (Noah Grappa).
Then there’s the trailer’s chilling final shot, Vecna looming over a burning military base surrounded by bodies. As Will helplessly levitates towards him, Vecna’s voice cuts through the chaos: “William, will you help me – one last time.”
Creators Opaque AND Ross Duffer he revealed it Stranger things 5 will tie together all the storylines that have been building since 2016. “Every season it would be like, ‘Should we talk about this?’ And we said, “No, let’s wait.” And finally we said, ‘Well, we have to do it now!’” Ross said.
Matt added: “We do everything we wanted to do with the Demogorgons, the Mind Flayer, Vecna, the Upside Down, Hawkins and these characters. This is a complete story. It’s done.”
The returning cast includes Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelmann, Dear GoodAND Amybeth McNulty.
Joining the crew this time is Linda Hamiltonwho plunges into chaos as the leader of the military forces trying to contain Hawkins.
Netflix will release Stranger things Season 5 in three parts: the first four episodes on November 26, the next three on December 25 and a two-hour finale on New Year’s Eve.
In a move that will make longtime fans ecstatic, the finale will also arrive in more than 350 theaters across the country, through January 1, 2026, giving the series a cinematic farewell.
The season was co-written with the Duffer brothers Paolo Dichter, Curtis Gwinn, Caitlin SchneiderhanAND Kate Trefrywith Frank Darabont AND Shawn Levy joining them behind the camera.
After nearly a decade, Stranger Things concludes with a total of 42 episodes, a Broadway prequel, and even a spinoff series in development.
