Parents who have booked an all-inclusive children’s hotel are surprised to find it full of children

When booking a family-friendly vacation, you need to know what to expect: entertainment for all ages, kids running around with popsicles in hand, and parents taking a well-deserved break relaxing on the sun loungers.

Well, not according to a couple of parents who took their toddler to a kid-friendly hotel abroad and were shocked to find it “packed” with families.

Cecilie Mikkelsen, 26, from Denmark, posted a video on TikTok on July 2 while staying at Alcudia Pins in Mallorca, Spain, with her partner and a two-year-old toddler.

Designed specifically for children, the all-inclusive four-star TUI BLUE hotel prides itself on offering a children’s paddling park, numerous activities and a “sandy Caribbean beach on your doorstep”.

The mother, known on the social app as @cecilielmikkelsen, has divided other TikTok users with her video of her “nightmare” holiday, which has garnered more than 1 million views and 700 comments.

Caption “Book a children’s hotel, they said, it’ll be fun, they said,” Cecilie’s footage began as her partner and son boarded the plane, excited to jet off to the Spanish island for a fun-filled holiday .

When Cecilie, who “travels several times a year”, arrived at her resort, she admitted she was overwhelmed by the number of people playing in pools, sitting on sunbeds and queuing at restaurant tables.

Cecilie turned her camera to capture rows of lounge chairs, towels and pool toys occupied by people, and expressed her frustration at not being able to find any.

The mother then turned her attention to the “crowded” pool areas, where dozens of children, teenagers and toddlers were splashing and swimming in the water.

Meanwhile, adults were filmed relaxing and chatting at the bar in a pool-side crowd.

Divided viewers flocked to the comments to share their opinions on Cecilie’s choice of hotel. Previous Alcudia Pins guests reported similar experiences at the resort, while others criticized the mother’s lack of “common sense” during booking.

Upset people commented on Cecilie’s lack of awareness before reaching their destination, with one person writing: “If there is a ‘kids hotel’ in this area it will most likely become a family destination ie with lots of crazy children running around.”

Another said: “I’m confused.” What did you actually expect? Because the way my mind works…

A third joked: “Did you know it would only be kids??? “You have to get there somehow and with someone,” while another viewer wrote: “You mean a ‘kids hotel’ host other people’s children? How dare they not accommodate yours?”

But the mother insists children are not the problem and that long queues and overcrowding are a bigger problem at the resort, to which she will “never” return.

Meanwhile, several former Alcudia Pins guests have shared their own negative experiences while vacationing at the resort. One person wrote: “We went there last year and thought exactly the same! Worst holiday ever.”

Another revealed: “I was literally here last week!” “Getting a sunbed after 9am was a nightmare.”

Responding to the despondent guest, the mother confirmed, “Yes, it’s a nightmare.”

In August, a furious mother vowed never to return to Ireland after she and her son were forced to leave their Dublin hotel room because of a no-child policy.

Hayley Smith (27) and her eight-year-old son Cohen traveled 10 hours by car and ferry from Derby to the ALTIDO Hotel in Dublin on August 2 for a summer holiday.

But on arrival the mother and son were refused entry to their £365 hotel room as the receptionist said children were not allowed for “insurance reasons”.

Ms Smith claims she immediately showed the receptionist her four-night booking, which said the room was for one adult and one child, but was still turned away.

The mother-of-one and Cohen had no accommodation and Ms Smith had to pay a further £420 for a hotel 20 minutes away.
