Britain’s top restaurants featured in the 2023 Michelin guide were announced at a ceremony last night.

The Guide is the ultimate culinary accolade for any restaurant that wants to prove that they serve some of the best food, not only in the country, but worldwide.

A Michelin star is a mark of quality, and a restaurant can be awarded zero to three stars based on five areas: quality of ingredients, mastery of taste and cooking techniques, personality of the chef in the kitchen, value for money and Consistency of the food.

The quality of the restaurant’s service and decoration is not part of the equation when awarding stars, but is represented by the number of “place settings” a restaurant receives, represented by the fork and spoon icon.

Last night Michelin stars were awarded as part of the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony Great Britain & Ireland Guide 2023.

A total of 23 new restaurants received new awards this year, with 20 restaurants receiving a Michelin star for the first time and three new restaurants receiving two.

Four restaurants also received a Green Star, an award for sustainable practices.

A total of eight restaurants have three Michelin stars, some of them in London. These include: Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Heston Blumenthal’s innovative and modern eatery, The Fat Duck in Bray, was also awarded three stars.

And last week, 20 new restaurants in the UK were awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand, which means excellent quality at a good price. The award is named after Bibendum – the official name of the Michelin man.
