This tiny house is ready to take off.

Photos show a crazy new cabin in the shape of a plane – called “Jet House” – located in the forest in Zala County in southern Hungary.

According to the architects, “blends function with imagination,” the quirky accommodation has a small kitchen and bathroom, as well as a bed in the nose of the plane. Two real airplane seats, authentic luggage lockers and a table with built-in drink holders make up the lounge area, and outside the plane’s wings serve as two open-air terraces for relaxing.

“It looks like it flew out of a cartoon and landed on the lawn with its soft curves and round windows,” say the architects behind it.

Amazingly, the lead designer behind the project is only 12 years old. Young Lujzi Pados has always loved airplanes, so she and her father planned the small house, which she thought could serve as a playhouse and vacation home.

Armed with sketches, the family then turned to Hungarian architecture firm Hello Wood to implement the design.

The designers say: “Lujzi dreamed of a playhouse where she could retire, invite her friends over and sleep in, which could later be converted into living space. She came to the first meetings with detailed ideas and plans on paper.”

They add that the concept was to create a “full-fledged, functional tiny house that looks more like a fancy toy than a building.”

The end result is described as a child’s fantasy come true. To enter the jet-shaped cabin, one climbs an “airport staircase” at the rear of the plane. Inside, there’s a “retro airplane vibe” with rounded furniture and wood accents.

Aviation ornaments from Lujzi and her father’s collections are scattered throughout – there is a Pan Am model airplane, a set of boarding passes and in-flight brochures, and various airplane-shaped ornaments.

The airplane seats and cabins are from Sky Art, an online purveyor of authentic airplane furniture.

The cabin is 29 m² in size, sleeps two people and meals can be prepared on an electric stove. The interior is air-conditioned and the exterior is covered with a waterproof material to keep moisture out.

The concept was to create a “full-fledged, functional tiny house that looks like a beautiful toy rather than a building.”

With a basic structure made of plywood, more than a thousand different construction parts were implemented in the structure.

Tamas Fulop, the Jet House project architect, comments on the design: “We were happy to accept the unusual assignment.

“As an architect, designing a structure that is meant to be cute is an inspiring task. It was also a challenge to integrate traditional architectural elements such as waterproofing and thermal insulation into the sculptural form.”

It’s not yet confirmed when the Jet House will be launched as a holiday home, but Hello Wood notes: “Lujzi is delighted with her cozy jet and would love for others to experience what it’s like to live in a jet house too to be to live.’
