Los Angeles’ Hollywood Walk of Fame is one of the world’s most iconic tourist attractions, but it’s also the worst, according to a new study.
The landmark, which honors notable figures in the entertainment industry with five-pointed stars mostly embedded in the pavement of Hollywood Boulevard, was ranked 99th on the list of the 99 best and worst major tourist attractions.
The study ranks the Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest as the world’s top tourist attraction, followed by Disneyland Paris second, Iceland’s Blue Lagoon third and Plaza de Espana in Seville, Spain fourth.
The rankings were created by data analysts at luggage storage network Stasher, who rated each attraction based on Tripadvisor reviews, Google reviews, Booking.com’s average user rating for stays within a mile of the attraction, distance to the nearest airport and with 10 scorers rated tourist safety against the host country’s Global Peace Index.
The Hungarian Parliament building scores 7.34 out of 10, with the researchers noting that 93.4 percent of Tripadvisor reviews are “very good” or “excellent” and the building has been viewed a whopping 887 million times on TikTok – and counting .

Disneyland Paris is the number 2 tourist attraction for 2023
Disneyland Paris scores 7.17 – and is the most popular attraction on TikTok, with tagged posts getting a whopping 7.9 billion views.
The theme park is also popular with Google reviewers, with an average rating of 4.5 based on 262,000 reviews. However, Tripadvisor reviews are less positive, with 58.2 percent of visitors rating their experience as “very good” or “excellent.”
The bronze medal Blue Lagoon is rated 7.15, and researchers show it has been viewed more than 317.5 million times on TikTok.
They also note that the quality of the local accommodation is among the highest in the study – an average of 9.2 out of 10 – and that it has a Google score of 4.6 out of 5 overall, based on 25,000 reviews.
The rest of the top 10 consists of Angkor Wat, Cambodia (fifth); St. Peter’s Basilica, Italy (6th); El Ateneo Grand Splendid, Argentina (seventh); Acropolis of Athens, Greece (8th); the Museum of New Zealand in Wellington, New Zealand (9th place); and Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (10th place).

The UK’s top attraction is London’s National Gallery (24th), beating America’s top-rated attraction – Disneyland Park California – at number 25.
And how did Mother Nature fare? Not impressive, with Niagara Falls at number 54, the Matterhorn in the Alps at number 63 and Mount Fuji in Japan at number 67.
Surprised by the position on the Walk of Fame? It has very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor, with 6,139 people giving it a three out of five at the time of writing, and 1,147 people rating it as “terrible”, with adjectives like “good”, ” sad” and “disappointing” that pop up some of the more scathing reviews.
And it was also last on Stasher’s 2019 tourist attraction rankings.
