British holidaymakers made the most of a winter heatwave in the Costa today as Storm Larisa wreaked havoc across the UK.
Shirtless tourists drank lager under the sun and blue skies in Benidorm, while others filled the beaches with temperatures reaching a balmy 23 degrees Celsius (73.5 degrees Fahrenheit).
Saturday will be more of the same, only hotter with thermometers hitting a staggering 26 degrees Celsius (78.8 degrees Fahrenheit) in the popular Costa Blanca resort.
Spain’s mini winter heatwave has also been a boon for the Costa del Sol, with altitudes hovering around the same dizzying heights as the Brits at home, who have struggled with gales, blizzards and snow.

Hundreds of people packed Benidorm’s beaches today as temperatures reached a balmy 23 degrees Celsius.
Ricky Davis, 35, who stripped off his T-shirt at lunchtime to enjoy a lay in a pub in the Little England area of Benidorm, said: “I got here yesterday and I can’t believe it .
“I’m from Manchester and just called a friend who says it’s freezing there.
“He was supposed to come with me, but a last-minute work matter got in the way. He’s really broken.”
Londoner Sheila Cummings, who was sunbathing on Benidorm’s famous Levante beach with some friends, added: “I only packed my bikini at the last minute when I saw a mini heat wave coming.
“I still half expected the weathermen to be wrong, but it’s better than I thought it would be.
“I never thought that I would have to wear sunscreen with SPF 15 in Benidorm in the winter. I need an ice cream later.”
The Spanish weather agency Aemet predicts that temperatures will rise to 15 degrees Celsius this weekend, especially on the Mediterranean coast.
In cities such as Murcia in southeastern Spain, it could exceed 30 degrees Celsius, experts estimate.

Valencia is another place where the maximum temperature could reach 30 degrees Celsius tomorrow, for the first time in the first half of March since records began in 1869.
Temperatures are more similar to what Spain typically experiences in late May and early June.
The unusual weather comes less than two weeks after heavy snowfall wreaked havoc across Mallorca.
About 20 inches of snow closed roads and knocked out power in dozens of towns on the resort island early last week.
Temperatures on the Costas are set to drop again after the weekend, reaching around 16 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit) in Benidorm and the same in Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol by Wednesday, although it is expected to remain fairly sunny.
