The early bird catches the worm – and the best holiday home offers even in high season.
Fortunately for late travelers, the limits for obtaining a prime rental for the 2023 holiday and 2024 half-year have been announced.
The helpful guide comes from Vrbo, which has determined when demand is high for each of the busiest travel times of the year — and when availability starts to wane.
Vrbo – which rents out villas, cottages and beach houses – argues that if UK travelers plan their trip before this peak, they have a better chance of choosing between the widest range of holiday homes and those that offer the best value for money.
For each of the busiest travel times of the year, Vrbo has identified when demand increases — and when availability begins to decrease
To have the widest range of accommodation available for key travel periods in 2023, travelers are advised to book by the following dates, with the logic that these restrictions can be applied across multiple booking platforms:
- Easter holiday (1-16 April): book at the latest February 9.
- Holiday in early May (April 29 – May 1): book at the latest 17. March.
- Feast day of the coronation of King Charles III. (6-8 May): Book no later than March 23.
- Public holiday at the end of May (27-29 May): book at the latest April 3rd.
- Summer holidays (22 July – 31 August): Book at the latest May 30.
- Autumn holidays (October 21-29): book at the latest August 14th.
- Christmas holiday (16 December – 1 January): book at the latest October 30.
- February 2024 Mid-year break (10-18 February 2024): Book at December 22, 2023.
There’s nothing worse than finding that fairytale castle or dreamy villa with infinity pool, only to find it’s already booked for the dates you want to travel with your friends and family.
“As such, we advise travelers to mark these booking dates in their calendars to ensure they get the best vacation rental for their 2023 travels,” said a Vrbo spokesperson.
