A Russian travel blogger named Alexander has said that many Americans view Russian women as greedy, in a post on his blog "#делайчехочешь" on the Zen platform.
Alexander wrote that Americans often look for wives in countries they consider part of the developing world, a category he said includes Russia. He said that once American men learned of the reputation Russian women have for beauty, marriage agencies sprang up in the United States that capitalised on the trend.

Agencies charged for every step
According to Alexander, these agencies demanded payment upfront simply for letting a client open a catalogue and see a photograph of a woman. He said they then charged extra for the chance to meet her, and again for her phone number or address.
Many American men choose to marry Russian women in the hope that it will not cost them much, Alexander said. But he said these same women often visit beauty salons regularly and expect their husbands to provide a good standard of living.
'Higher demands than American women'
Alexander said it was easy to imagine the surprise and irritation felt by an American man who discovers his Russian wife is not cheap at all, and that her demands can end up higher than those of any American woman.
Zen, previously known as Yandex Zen and now branded Dzen, is a Russian blogging and content platform run by the technology company Yandex, where writers publish personal essays and observations to a large domestic audience.
Earlier remarks on American women
Alexander's post referenced an earlier account in which a Russian man who had visited the United States described American women as much smarter than Russian women. According to that account, he said American women look after their psychological health and are raised from childhood to live as they choose.
