Pixar animated feature Toy Story 5 will premiere on Disney+ on September 23, 2026, following a historic box office run across cinemas worldwide.
The fifth installment in the franchise generated approximately $1.128 billion in worldwide box office revenue during its theatrical run, making it the highest-grossing film in the history of the Toy Story series.
The animated feature originally opened in cinemas on June 19, 2026. Its digital launch comes just over three months after its theatrical debut, preceded by a physical media release on 4K UHD and Blu-ray on September 22, 2026.

Plot details and character conflicts
The new storyline follows classic toys Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie as they encounter a modern challenge centered on technology. The group faces a new rival named Lilypad, a smart tablet device that arrives in the household of their young owner, Bonnie.
Lilypad quickly becomes the favorite new plaything for Bonnie, threatening to displace traditional toys from their central role in her room. The narrative explores how Woody and his fellow toys attempt to maintain their relevance alongside modern digital devices.
Pixar Animation Studios released the original Toy Story in 1995 as the first feature-length computer-animated film. Woody, a pull-string cowboy doll, and Buzz Lightyear, a space ranger action figure, served as the principal characters across successive sequels, eventually joining cowgirl Jessie and transitioning from their original owner, Andy, to Bonnie.
Streaming availability and platform access
Audiences will be able to watch Toy Story 5 online exclusively through Disney+, the subscription video-on-demand service. Viewers must have an active subscription to stream the movie on the service.
Disney+ functions as the primary streaming platform for film and television content produced by Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios. The service already hosts all previous entries in the Toy Story film saga, allowing subscribers to watch the complete series before viewing the new installment.
The upcoming streaming release will bring the record-setting production directly into home living rooms, concluding its initial window of theatrical exclusivity.
