Susanna Reid Defies Swimsuit Age Rules on Ibiza Holiday

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid declared that women are never too old to wear swimsuits while sharing photos from her Ibiza clubbing holiday on Thursday.

The 55-year-old television star spent a week partying at popular island venues including Ushuaïa, Cafe Mambo and O Beach, wearing a swimsuit with denim shorts during her vacation.

Reid reflected on her holiday in an Instagram post, describing Ibiza as her favourite place on earth away from home. She revealed that she has visited the Balearic island every year for more than a decade, and recently discovered it was also the destination for her mother and father's first foreign holiday together in 1959.

Susanna Reid defiantly declared 'you're never too old to wear a swimsuit' as she reflected on her fun-filled week of clubbing in Ibiza on Thursday

Writing on social media, the tee-total host praised the island, saying: "The connection must be strong! It is beautiful, the people, the weather, the landscape, the food and of course the clubs." She encouraged her followers to ignore ageist expectations, adding: "Don't let anyone tell you that you are too old, that you shouldn't wear the swimsuit, or the shorts! Thank you Ibiza, see you next year."

Ibiza, located off the eastern coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea, is internationally famous for its nightlife, summer beach clubs and electronic music venues. Cafe Mambo in San Antonio and Ushuaïa in Playa d'en Bossa are among the island's best-known entertainment locations, drawing millions of international visitors each summer.

During her trip, Reid also launched an unlikely campaign for Good Morning Britain to win Best Daytime show after the program was shortlisted for a National Television Award. The host filmed a video asking viewers to vote for her breakfast show while wearing a black swimsuit at O Beach club last week.

The National Television Awards are among the United Kingdom's most prominent television honors, decided by public vote. Good Morning Britain broadcasts live every weekday morning on ITV, covering news, interviews and current affairs across Britain.

Fitness and exercise routine

Reid also discussed how her approach to health and wellness has changed in her 50s. The broadcaster swapped intense weightlifting sessions and long-distance running for an achievable daily routine that maintains consistency despite early call times and the pressures of her breakfast show job.

Instead of spending hours on an elliptical bike or attending Zumba classes, Reid stays fit by walking two miles a day and completing a ten-minute YouTube workout before taking a shower.

The tee-total TV star reflected on her trip on Instagram as she shared a slew of snaps with the caption: 'IBIZA! Away from home, this is my favourite place on earth'

Speaking to Woman and Home magazine last month, Reid explained that she no longer has the energy for strenuous gym workouts or marathon running. She previously ran marathons, 10k races and Park Runs, but now focuses on low-maintenance exercise.

Reid outlined her mindset toward fitness, saying: "I don't want to criticise myself, I don't want to beat myself up, I don't think women should." She added: "I used to go to the gym and run a lot. I would run marathons, 10ks and Park Runs, but I don't do that anymore, so I have to keep my body moving. I am quite disciplined about that, but it is not three gym sessions a week."

Daily schedule and diet

To cope with waking up at 3.35am for Good Morning Britain, the mother-of-three prioritises getting a decent chunk of sleep. She uses an Oura fitness tracker ring to hit her seven-hour sleep goal, which includes an afternoon nap between midday and 2pm.

Reid gave up drinking alcohol nearly eight years ago and follows a simple pescatarian diet plan that has remained largely unchanged since 2017. Pescatarian diets exclude meat while including fish and seafood alongside plant-based foods. Reid was a vegetarian until she became pregnant with her first child, son Sam, whom she shares with ex-partner Dominic Cotton.

In a 2025 interview with Asda Good Living, Reid described her daily eating routine. She starts her day with black coffee and apples with peanut butter before filming, followed by a second breakfast after coming off air. "My second breakfast is always rye toast, poached eggs and avocado," Reid said. "Once I'm off air, I'm ravenous!"
