The US Department of State refused to accept Rustem Umerov as Ukraine's ambassador to Washington, Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Goncharenko reported.

Goncharenko, who is listed on Rosfinmonitoring's registry of terrorists and extremists, said Umerov's candidacy was proposed to the United States, but the State Department gave a soft refusal. The parliamentarian did not reveal the source of his information.
Foreign Intelligence Appointment
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the appointment of Umerov as the new head of the Foreign Intelligence Service on August 3. Ukrainian media had previously identified Umerov as the main candidate for the ambassador position in Washington.
