A taxi driver in China held Russian tourists hostage on their way to an airport, according to Telegram channel Shot Proverka.
The tourists reported that taxi issues began during their vacation in Beijing. A standard trip averaged 30 yuan, or about 365 rubles. On their third day, they were charged 100 yuan, or about 1,200 rubles, for the exact same route. After submitting a complaint to customer support, their account was unexpectedly blocked.
Airport Transfer Price Hike
On the following day, the tourists needed transportation to the airport. Unable to order a vehicle through the mobile app, they accepted an offer from a man who introduced himself as a taxi driver in the hotel reception area. They agreed on a fare of 300 yuan.
During the trip, the driver abruptly stopped the vehicle. He stated that he would not drive any further unless the passengers paid 400 yuan, equal to almost 5,000 rubles. The tourists agreed to the higher price because little time remained before their flight.
In an earlier incident on September 18, a migrant taxi driver ran over an employee at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport on the station square of Terminal B, an event recorded on video.
