Prime Video has premiered Sterling Point, a new eight-episode coming-of-age series starring Ella Rubin as a 17-year-old New Yorker who inherits a Canadian island.
Created, written, and directed by Megan Park, the television drama focuses on teenager Annie Jacobson after she receives an unexpected inheritance from a grandfather she never met.

While most people inherit items such as a watch collection, clothing, a first car, a small plot of land, or money that is subject to taxation, Annie receives a private island in Muskoka Lakes, Ontario. Muskoka Lakes is a township in central Ontario known for its scenic lakes and summer cottage country.
The mysterious bequest upends the comfortable lifestyle of the affluent New York teenager. Moving from the fast-paced environment of Manhattan to remote Canada forces Annie to adjust to traveling by small airplane and motorboat as she takes possession of the land.
Muskoka Island Inheritance and Family Mystery
Spanish newspaper LA RAZÓN reported after reviewing the first two episodes that the series uses Annie's relocation to contrast her urban upbringing with her new permanent reality in rural Canada. Unlike a teenager visiting relatives for a brief summer stay, Annie must adapt to her new environment while searching for answers about her family history.
Her arrival on the island leads to an immediate complication when she discovers Ramona, a young woman who is already living inside the island cabin Annie expected to claim. The encounter triggers a central plot revolving around hidden letters, family secrets, and previously unknown relatives.
Annie sets out to determine why her estranged grandfather chose to leave the island specifically to her. The journey forces the young protagonist to mature rapidly while piecing together the past of a family line that had been kept entirely separate from her life.
Cast and Production Details
Ella Rubin plays the lead role of Annie Jacobson, headlining a cast that also includes veteran television actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Morgan is widely recognized for his performance as Negan in AMC's long-running post-apocalyptic drama The Walking Dead.
The production features a musical soundtrack designed to underscore Annie's emotional transition as she navigates her past, present, and future away from her familiar surroundings.
Coming of Age Narrative and Critical Reception
LA RAZÓN noted that Sterling Point shares narrative elements with Prime Video's romantic drama series The Summer I Turned Pretty in its focus on young people experiencing new relationships and life milestones. However, the publication highlighted that the addition of a multi-generational family mystery gives the storyline broader scope than a standard teen romance.
In its assessment of the opening episodes, LA RAZÓN described the show as an entertaining and fresh addition to the summer streaming market that combines lighthearted moments with significant emotional depth as its main character strives to understand her identity.
