Olivia Colman has been cast in the sixth season of Only Murders in the Building as production on the hit comedy series relocates to London.
The move to the United Kingdom marks the first time the show has set its story outside of New York City, leaving behind the fictional Arconia apartment building where earlier mystery arcs took place.
Series creator John Hoffman stated several weeks ago that the current chapter presented the ideal moment to take the plot outside of the Big Apple.

The mystery comedy, which streams on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally, follows a trio of podcasting neighbors who investigate murders in their building.
Instagram video announcement
Cast members Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep and Martin Short announced Colman's arrival as a high-profile guest star through a video shared on the official Instagram account for the show.
In the clip, Gomez and Streep appear on screen first. Gomez said that they had welcomed many incredible guest stars to the series, to which Streep replied that they were only missing one.
Short then appears briefly in character as theater director Oliver Putnam. After making a gesture and mentioning Colman, the British actress joins the trio and takes a bow.
Upcoming film roles
Colman is currently promoting her upcoming feature film Wicker, in which she stars as a fisherwoman who asks a basket weaver, played by Peter Dinklage, to craft her a husband.
The movie also stars Alexander Skarsgard, who portrays a man made of straw. Wicker is scheduled to open in cinemas on October 23, 2026.
Season six ensemble cast
Colman joins an extensive list of guest stars previously confirmed for the upcoming sixth season of the series.
The expanded lineup includes Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel and Rhea Norwood.
Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol will also feature in the new London-set season.
