A British Airways flight attendant is facing legal action in court after a female colleague accused him of sexually harassing her during an overnight layover in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The incident took place after the airline crew arrived in South America on a flight from London, United Kingdom. Company captain James Hewitt subsequently hosted a party featuring vodka inside a local hotel room, according to details published by British newspaper The Sun.
After midnight, one of the female flight attendants woke up to the sound of sexually explicit groaning. She reported finding herself in bed alongside two male colleagues who were also present in the room.
The victim alleged that 31-year-old crew member Ryan Lim touched her buttocks and gratified himself while she was sleeping. She stated that she witnessed his indecent actions through the reflection of a mirror positioned next to the bed.
Following the encounter, the flight attendant got out of bed and went to the bathroom, where she vomited. When she later confronted Lim about what occurred, he allegedly told her that whatever happens in the room stays in the room.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings and Flight Layover Rules
Lim has denied all allegations of harassment brought against him. Formal legal proceedings regarding the incident remain ongoing.
British Airways is the flag carrier of the United Kingdom and operates extensive international long-haul services from its main hub at London Heathrow Airport. Standard commercial aviation regulations require air carriers to provide dedicated hotel accommodations and scheduled rest periods for flight deck officers and cabin crew during international stops to manage fatigue on long-distance routes.
The flight route between London and Rio de Janeiro spans over 5,700 miles across time zones, with non-stop flights taking approximately eleven hours. During international layovers in Brazil, crew members remain off duty until their scheduled return flight back to the United Kingdom.
