The Split returned to the screen last night with an emotional episode that brought audiences to tears, then hugged them when the BBC gave a major spoiler during the closing credits.

In the final minutes of the episode, viewers learned that Rose’s (Fiona Button) husband, James Cutler (Rudi Dharmalingam), died after being hit by a car while riding a bike after an argument over their desire to adopt.

It was a blow to fans of the show who complained about the loss of the “sweet and friendly” character.

Someone tweeted: ‘Don’t be silly! It’s the first episode and I’m already in tears. I loved James, he’s such a kind soul. I had an “ah ah” moment as I drove past that bus and thought it was going to go wrong. This program is great.

Another said, “I forgot #thesplit was on, so I’m looking at it now and I knew something was going to happen to James. I don’t know why but he was building the whole EP and I knew it. [sic]†

But there were more moments of anger later, when a BBC continuity announcer seemed to disrupt a key plot line.

Earlier in the episode, surgeon Leonora Hale (Karen Bryson) had begun divorcing her beloved husband, Felix.

The reason was unclear, but scenes showed him taking medication for an unknown condition.

However, the nature of the disease was apparently revealed when the BBC broadcaster shared details in support of people with motor neuron disease (MND).

The announcer said: “Details of organizations providing information and support for counseling on grief and motor neuron diseases are available on the BBC Actionline website.”

Since MND is not mentioned anywhere else in the episode, viewers will see that Dr. He suspected it was Hale.

An enraged fan tweeted: “One scene on #TheSplit only had a very brief and subtle hint, but nothing could justify #bbc giving such a massive spoiler at the end. Big mistake, shame on you.

He shared another post: “@bbc announcer screwed up The Split by saying the doctor has motor neurone disease, but he was not named.”

The third series of the hit divorce drama kicks off as Hannah (Nicola Walker) and Nathan (Stephen Mangan) enter the final stages of divorce negotiations.

Hannah seemed hopeful that there would be a way to get her ex-husband back, but it took a big hit when he was introduced to his new girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Rose and James couldn’t agree on adoption after learning they couldn’t have biological children of their own.

It culminated in a queue on the street and ended when James went for a bike ride.

After calming down for a while, Rose called James and left a voicemail saying “everything’s fine” and that he’d be a great dad.

The spoilers that ruined the Lennie and Felix plot were frustrating, with fans wondering how he was allowed to escape.

It was up to Hannah to tell her sister that James was in the hospital and Rose was with her when she was told that her husband had died.

Elsewhere, Dr. Hale enlisted the help of her friend Hannah in divorcing her husband Felix, despite being “the nicest man” she had ever known.

Hannah felt something was going on deeper inside, and Dr. She urged Hale to tell her husband the truth.
