Prince Charles, Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex and Princess Anne hosted guests at a garden party this afternoon in the absence of the Queen.

The royal family travel to Scotland for the annual Holyrood Week, which takes place between the end of June and the beginning of July.

During Holyrood Week, the 96-year-old queen travels, meeting up with Scots from all parts of Scotland.

A highlight of the visit is the Garden Party at Holyroodhouse Palace, which appreciates the Scots’ good work in the community.

The Queen met today with Scottish Prime Minister Nicholas Sturgeon and Speaker of the Scottish Parliament Alison Johnstone.

At a meeting at Holyroodhouse Palace, Mrs Sturgeon presented the queen with various gifts, including a limited edition bottle of whiskey.

But at the same location, the queen was found to have disappeared this afternoon while her three children were welcoming guests to the garden party.

Princess Anne, Prince Charles and Prince Edward appeared at the party and posed for a family photo with Sophie Wessex and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

The trip to Holyrood Week marks the first time the queen has been seen with royalty since her platinum anniversary earlier this month.
