It’s a quarantine: 10 series about epidemics

The horribly (literally) addictive series about epidemics is a word that has become firmly entrenched in our daily lives over the past few years thanks to the coronavirus and monkeypox.

The Walking Dead (2010 – 2022)

The story of the life of the sheriff’s family after an apocalyptic epidemic has swept the world and turned most of humanity into zombies. A small group of survivors are forced to travel the planet in search of a safe place to live. The tenth cult series that has become a real phenomenon.

“12 Monkeys” (2015 – 2018)

Fantasy about time travel. In 2015, when an unknown virus wiped out almost all of humanity, the survivors took shelter underground. Someone will have to go back in time to prevent a pandemic.

“The Last Man on Earth” (2015 – 2018)

Post-apocalyptic comedy. Phil Miller was once an ordinary man who loved his family and hated working in the bank, and now he is humanity’s last hope.

“Isolation” (2016)

Parts of Atlanta are put under quarantine when a mysterious and deadly epidemic hits the city.

“Epidemic” (2018 – …)

An unknown virus turns Moscow into a city of the dead and forces it into quarantine. His lover and autistic son Sergei (Kirill Kyaro) lives outside the city where the city is still safe, but he can’t leave his ex-wife and son in trouble, so he goes to Moscow to save his family. Thus, against the backdrop of a global catastrophe, a brutal family drama is also played out. Meanwhile, two years ago, Epidemic was acquired by Netflix and the series hit the top five on the platform, with Stephen King praising it and calling it “very good”.

“Confrontation” (2020 – 2021)

Adaptation of a Stephen King novel with James Marsden, Odessa Young and Alexander Skarsgård. A deadly virus infiltrates a secret base and all the lab’s staff die on the job, except one guard, along with his wife and child. However, his release from his base costs thousands of lives – an epidemic begins in the city.

“Survivors” (2021)

After the collapse of civilization, very few managed to survive, and they were all infected with an unknown virus. Common misfortune was supposed to unite all survivors, but people no longer trust each other.

“It’s a Sin” (2021)

A project for Netflix by Russell T. Davies (Doctor Who) set in 1980s London, New York during the AIDS epidemic. The author of the series promises “laughter and lots of sex”, and also – “an emotional blow”!

“We’re All Dead” (2022)

At a high school in the city of Hyosan, an epidemic of a new virus that turns people into zombies begins to spread, and the trapped high school students must fight their way to freedom. Otherwise, they will join the ranks of monsters.

“Sick Zero” (2022)

Kinopoisk shot about the first HIV epidemic in the USSR (more than a million viewers in just three weeks from its premiere) with Askar Ilyasov, Nikita Efremov, Evgeny Stychkin and others. The events unfold in 1988 in the Kalmyk Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, where a young doctor in a children’s hospital discovered a dangerous infection in several patients. Soon, a scientist from Moscow, a specialist in an “exotic” disease, little known in the Union, joins the investigation.
