A flight attendant explained why Diet Coke is one of the most annoying orders passengers can ask for in the air.
The US airline stewardess said in a post on TikTok that Diet Coke “takes too long to pour” compared to other sodas.

It went viral after a flight attendant revealed that the most annoying thing a passenger can order in the air, more than any other soda, is Diet Coke.

In the 340,500+ viewed clips, juxtaposing a Diet Coke and a regular Coke, it took much longer for the diet version’s fizz to stabilize.
“This is why flight attendants hate serving Diet Coke on board…
Hundreds of reviewers were surprised to learn that Diet Coke fades more in the air than regular soda, while others didn’t like the flight attendant’s little annoyance.
One person said, “So they give me a glass of ice and a can of Diet Coke,” the second joked, “Are you really complaining about pouring Coke into a glass?”
Why does Diet Coke foam up more on an airplane?
Each time a can is opened, the CO2 starts to change from the high pressure state inside the soda to the low pressure state outside.
It does this with bubbles or fizz. At higher altitudes, a greater difference between soda and air speeds up this process, which means soda will boil more and flatten faster.
The reason for the difference between the “fizzy” in Coca-Cola and Diet Coke is the same reason Diet Coke exists: it’s sugar.
Sugar increases both viscosity and surface tension, causing regular starch to form larger bubbles that are weaker and more likely to burst. Diet Coke creates smaller, stronger bubbles that burst much more slowly.

‘Why do you have to pay? Just give me the glass and the box. Hello,” someone else asked.
The fourth said, “Give Pax a can and a glass of ice and they’ll fill it up for themselves.”
“Try pouring it slower on the ice. I understand you’re in a hurry, but if it’s slow enough, you don’t need a second or third time,” another suggested.
