Maxima, 50, was graceful in an olive green dress when she met Vice President Tiemoko Meyliet Kone, as well as Prime Minister Achi and First Lady Dominique Ouattara, in the city of Ivory Coast.

The trip will be Queen Máxima’s first personal “country visit” as UNSGSA since pre-pandemic.

The West African region is a priority target for UNSGSA’s efforts to strengthen financial and digital inclusion as well as financial health, following virtual visits to both Ivory Coast and Senegal in 2021.

Working closely with key leaders and stakeholders in each country, UNSGSA aims to support an overarching set of financial priorities and meet local customers who use and benefit from financial services and products.

The trip to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, will be Queen Maxima’s first personal “rural visit” as UNSGSA since pre-pandemic times.

Both countries have the opportunity to pave the way for financial inclusion in West Africa, with growth driven by digital payments.

As a result, both have the potential to become leaders in the region.

This came after meeting with the head of the European Central Bank in Amsterdam last week.
