But researchers point out that it’s actually the age at which we feel the sexiest.
According to one survey, four in 10 (41%) 53-year-olds said they felt more comfortable in their skin and were more confident in their appearance than ever before.
And when it comes to dating, nearly a fifth (18%) apparently think it’s warmer and more exciting than meeting people in their youth.
More than half, 53 percent, say they now know what they want, while 40 percent agree they don’t need to worry about how they’ll come across.
The survey, conducted by our 50s dating service Ourtime, also found that a quarter of 50s say their relationships and sex lives have gotten more exciting half a century later.

Rachel Peru of Ourtime said: “Being single in old age doesn’t mean your love life is over.
“As the research suggests, the older you get, the more confident you become and a better understanding of the dos and don’ts of a relationship.”

A third of the 50+ Brits surveyed agree that tackling the big 5-0 means letting go of their previous insecurities and restraints.
The survey also revealed that 35% reject the idea that everyone “let it go” when they reach middle age.

Other misconceptions about what it means to get old include getting fat and wrinkled (44%), eating nothing but bland food (36%), and desperately looking for someone who doesn’t age alone (34%). ). †
