The best theatrical performances in Moscow: says the author of the telegram channel “Zakulisk”

The winter period in Russia is considered one of the most atmospheric periods of the year. And there is nothing more pleasant than spending it in bright theatrical performances. Moreover, every December, the atmosphere of the capital is filled with conversations about theatre. One of the reasons for this is the excitement for “The Nutcracker” at the Bolshoi. In December, another crazy record was set in the cost of tickets for the main New Year’s production: for a set of four tickets, this figure was more than 1.2 million rubles.

However, theaters do not live on “The Nutcracker” alone. Moscow, St. Every year in St. Petersburg and other large (and not so large) cities, productions that deserve attention appear. For example, in November, the premiere of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Rigoletto” was held at the same Bolshoi, the musical “The Last Fairy Tale” was shown for the first time at the Moscow Youth Palace, and “12 Clowns in Search of Happiness” was shown at the Tsvetnoy Theater.

And these are not all the performances worth going to the theater. To find out what you need to see at the peak of the season, we give the floor to the author of “Behind the Scenes”, the most authoritative channel in the theater industry.

For the last three years, a critical situation has developed in Moscow in which there is nothing to see or recommend. However, this season the ice melted and valuable productions began to appear on the stage again.

One of these projects is “Şalom”. Almost every performance here is worth recommending. Besides the unqualified hit “Fat Lyuba”, “My God” and “Monya the Standard Bearer” are also must-sees. It’s time for the director and artistic director Oleg Lipovetsky to give a master class on “How to create a theatrical hit.”

Among the small spaces, I would like to talk about the “Inside” space. “We must do something” from the actor, director and head of the Moscow Art Theater Museum Pavel Vashilin – a grotesque work of a witty writer with a good sense of humor and the best traditions of the absurd mainstream.

Here I recommend watching the most fashionable performances from all the “parties” called “The Three Sisters” directed by Andrei Manik with the brilliant Maria Smolnikova, Olga Lerman and Svetlana Ivanova as Chekhov’s heroines. And also the film “Richard” by the same director Manik with Smolnikova, the undisputed star of the theater.

In the small Chelovek Theater, located in a small building on the Arbat, the productions of “Biography” and “Save Lenka” by the theater’s chief director Vladimir Skvortsov are must-sees. And in “Praktika”, which has become the largest of all small theaters, “Bleeding in the Moscow Union of Artists” and “Mamleev” are valuable and recommended.

In addition to all of the above, the opening of the first season of the Vsevolod Shilovsky Theater-Studio in Petrovka recently took place. Now this project gives residents the opportunity to show real original performances. The favorite is Veniamin Skalnik’s “Harpagoniad”, adapted from the novel by Konstantin Vaginov, a student of Nikolai Gumilyov. There’s great humor, acting and interactivity here. No spoilers, but it’s best to bring some money for the break.

The leader of all the great players this season is the Theater that bears his name. Pushkin and Theater on Bronnaya. For example, in the first one, the high-profile premiere of Evgeny Pisarev’s film “The Bad and the Good” took place, based on the comedy of the English playwright Oscar Wilde “Lady Windermere’s Fan”. By the way, there is also an absolutely gorgeous drama “Cosmos” starring the gorgeous Victoria Isakova. Last season’s premiere, “Zoyka’s Apartment,” is still relevant. The performance of theater diva Alexandra Ursulyak is the work of the same Evgeny Pisarev.

The theater on Bronnaya, under the management of the “star” of all industries Konstantin Bogomolov, puts on hit performances. And here’s a brief description of each.

“Tanya” and “Veronica” are for a very thoughtful audience. The humorous “Dachniki” is the highlight of this season. And the latest premiere of “The Constant Seagull” is a must-see. The great classics in the author’s current reading are the plays of Rozov, Arbuzov and Chekhov.

Meanwhile, at the Moscow Art Theatre. Chekhov marked Konstantin Khabensky’s directorial debut as artistic director. And he started with his own version of “The Seagull.” By right, the Moscow Art Theater (the same Moscow Art Theater or Moscow Art People’s Theater) should have its own version of this production at all times and historical stages. This “Seagull” is notable for a number of comments made by the director about the characters and the magnificent work of Kristina Babushkina and Anatoly Kot.

Among the unexpected theatrical triumphs – “Noces” in the eponymous “New Opera”. Kolobov is based on Stravinsky’s ballet. Magnificent work of the author of the musical concept Nikolai Popov, choreographer Pavel Glukhov, Larisa Lomakina (scenario), Svetlana Tegina (costumes), Dmitry Volosnikov (music director). And after the hit “Son” in RAMT, a good play “Leningrad Tales” appeared. And if you haven’t seen the past premieres yet, it’s worth paying attention to them.
