The awards committee noted Sean Baker’s work on “Anora,” which will also compete for the best picture title. Additionally, starring actor Mikey Madison was nominated for Best Actress and Sean Baker was nominated for Best Director.
The movie “Anora” was awarded the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition to Mikey Madison, known for his roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the fifth episode of Scream, Russian actors Mark Eidelstein, Yura Borisov, Alexey Serebryakov and Daria Ekamasova also star in the film.
The plot of Anora follows the story of a heroine named Any-Anora (Mikey Madson) who marries the son of a Russian oligarch (Marc Eidelstein), thus angering her family. Marriage gives him a ticket to a luxurious life, so he is not ready to back out. Then his relatives send him a sextet – the quiet gopnik Igor (Yura Borisov), the Armenian Toros (Karen Karagulyan) and the pessimist Garnik (Vache Tovmasyan).
