The 28-year-old actor reached peak physical condition in Gladiator 2. But there are two things he’s decided not to give up, Us Magazine writes.
“I ate a lot of chicken and lifted weights,” Paul Mescal said of his physical transformation for the upcoming epic storyline. “I worked with a coach who surrounded me like a shark and said, ‘Here’s a canvas to work on,'” the artist continued. According to Mescal, the coach came to see him every day.
But Paul admitted he wasn’t ready to give up two bad habits for the role. “I did everything he asked, but I like to drink and smoke, so I drew a line in the sand regarding those things,” he explained.
Let us remind you that the events in the movie “Gladiator 2” unfold twenty years after the events of the original film starring Russell Crowe. Paul Mescal plays Lucius Verus, the son of Crowe’s character Maximus, who, like Maximus in the first film, was forced into slavery and became a gladiator to gain his freedom.
The actor said he got the role after 30 minutes of Zoom communication with director Ridley Scott: “Ridley doesn’t waste any time. I thought there would be on-camera tests and auditions, but we spent half an hour on Zoom: 10 minutes talking about the role and then 20 minutes talking about Gaelic football, his dog and his wife.
Paul Mescal continued: “I thought it would be more, but a few weeks later he called and offered me the part. “I think he acts instinctively on and off set, and I’m really glad it turned out that way.”
Previously, Paul Mescal commented on scandalous rumors about his casual relationships. Read about it here.
