The 25-year-old actress revealed the details of her preparation for the role of strip club dancer Ani in the movie “Anora”. Among other things, Mikey Madison told The Guardian how he learned Russian.

The film’s director, Sean Baker, first saw the actor in a small role in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: He played the character of Leonardo DiCaprio. Baker invited Madison to coffee and offered her the lead role in his new movie, which he had not yet written at the time.

A year after their first meeting, the director returned to the girl with the script. He immediately began preparing for the role. According to the story, Ani is an American of Uzbek origin, and since she had to speak some Russian, Mikey Madison started taking Russian lessons. She downloaded Duolingo and started listening to recordings of Russian phrases for hours from making coffee in the morning until she went to bed.

The actress even moved to Brighton Beach a month before filming Anora began perfecting her accent. There is a large Russian-speaking community in the region. “I left my first two-hour Russian lesson and thought: “Yeah, I can’t do this. I can’t learn a new language for a movie. Who is doing this? This is crazy! But I am a stubborn person. “I still don’t believe that I was able to achieve this in the end,” the celebrity shared.
