Nicolas Cage was first noticed on the set of the TV series Spider-Noir, where he played a superhero. The series will tell a darker version of the story.

In the series, Spider-Man is not about a teenager, but an adult warrior fighting for justice in the 1930s, sometimes resorting to lethal methods in his quest to end organized crime.

Accordingly, Cage appeared on set in a character that appeared to be lifted from one of Old Hollywood’s noir masterpieces. The scene was shot in a dimly lit, deserted urban area after dark. The photo is on the Daily Mail’s website.

In footage from the set, Cage was lying on his back and then suddenly rolled over and knelt down. He then jumped up and quickly jumped to the side. It looked like he was dodging shots.

Created by writers David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, and artist Carmine di Giandomenico, Spider-Man Noir first appeared in the comic book series of the same name in 2009. In 1933, during the Great Depression, young reporter Peter Parker is bitten by an illegally imported poisonous spider while secretly investigating the smuggling of an ancient artifact.

Cage voiced the character in 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He was remembered by fans for his dark and profound monologues such as: “Sometimes I let the match burn my fingers so I can at least feel something.”
