Almost half a century ago, in 1976, Brian de Palma laid the foundation for a separate horror direction that took place at the ball with “Carrie,” based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. What can spoil the main evening of school years? The answer is definitely in these movies.
“Target – 3” (2006)
The third part of the cycle, after which everyone probably has a new phobia. High school student Wendy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has a premonition that they’ll be the victim of an accident that ends up being with her friends on the roller coaster to celebrate her graduation. When their worst fears are confirmed, those who managed to cheat death now have to pay the price.
“Graduation” (2008)
The school prom was supposed to be one of the most memorable events in Donna’s (Brittany Snow) life. With her friends, she had to celebrate the beginning of a new stage in her life’s journey, not remembering for a moment the nightmares of the past. However, everything turned out differently, and the graduation was filled with death-longing cries from the victims of a mad killer instead of fun.
“Dear” (2009)
Brent Mitchell refused to go to prom with Lola. And in vain, because now with the help of his abnormal father, he is kidnapping her and arranging his own graduation.
“Telekinesis” (2013)
Another film adaptation of Stephen King’s famous novel “Carrie” starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore. An ordinary high school student is gifted with innate telekinesis, and the pressure of a fanatically religious mother and constant bullying by her peers only contribute to the development of her talent. When her prom classmates decide to play a cruel prank on her, the consequences are deadly.
“My Friend Dahmer” (2017)
On the eve of graduation, Jeffrey Dahmer suffers from his parents’ impending divorce, a lack of friends and attention, and enjoys collecting dead animals and dissolving their bodies in acid in his spare time. One day she decides to take a desperate step – to attract attention at school with a silly trick. To my surprise, it works.
“Dark Mirror” (2018)
18-year-old high school student Maria is disliked by her family and doesn’t get along well with female peers. Being an outcast, she opens up all her secrets and experiences to her own reflection in the mirror, an imaginary evil twin who supports, encourages and knows all her secrets. One day, she is replaced by her twin, who begins to embody her wildest and most unbridled desires.
