Looks like we found something to do for the near future. The grand opening of the XI Street Cinema Festival, the world’s largest short film festival by geography, took place on July 16 at the Illusion cinema. It will run from July 17 until the end of September.

This year’s jury of the competition, which includes 7 short films selected by the festival from over 800 works, will include Klim Shipenko, Oleg Trofim and Alexei Nuzhny, actors Irina Gorbacheva and Kristina Asmus, and producer David Kocharov.
During the festival, hundreds of thousands of spectators will take to the docks, squares and streets of 1,644 cities and towns to watch the program. Everyone will be able to vote for their favorite film by shining a flashlight on its work. The organizers will measure the light level in each city with a special device (light meter).
In September, the organizers will determine the winner by the general decision of the public and the jury. He will receive a grant of 1,000,000 rubles for the packaging of a TV series project or a feature-length debut film.

You can find out more about the festival and see the schedule of shows on the event website.
