“According to Freud”, dir. Matt Brown (2023)
The subject of the film does not delve into the twists and turns of history and psychoanalysis, but it is not devoid of depth and intrigue. The action takes place in London in the 1930s, when the Nazis invaded Poland, marking the beginning of World War II. In his final session before his death, the father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud (Anthony Hopkins), meets with Chronicles of Narnia author Clive S. Lewis (Matthew Goode) to discuss the existence of God. The film is adapted from the play “Freud’s Last Session” by screenwriter Mark Jermain.
“Three Thousand Years of Desires”, dir. George Miller (2022)
Legend researcher Alithea (Tilda Swinton) buys a mysterious container containing a genie (Idris Elba) from an Istanbul market. However, the hero is in no hurry to make three wishes: he is much more interested in listening to the Genie’s story. Together they will have to answer questions about happiness, love, beauty, women’s equality and the secrets of the universe. The film adaptation is based on the book “The Genie in the Nightingale’s Eye” by Antonia Byatt.
