Director Sarik Andreasyan announced that he will shoot a film about figure skater Roman Kostomarov, who had both his feet and hands amputated as a result of a serious illness. The producer admitted that the athlete’s story touched him deeply and inspired him to create the film.

“I have always believed that one of the meanings of life for great people is to inspire others with their actions. Like most residents of our country, I followed the tragedy that befell Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov. “I was touched by his story to the depths of my soul, I cried with admiration for the will and fortitude of this amazing man,” the director said on his Telegram channel.

He added that when he saw the athlete on the ice again, he realized that a person can overcome any difficulties “if he has the desire to fight, love and do his life’s work.” Sarik Andreasyan stated that it was a great honor for both him and his team that Roman Kostomarov entrusted them with the task of making a film about him.

The film will tell about the figure skater’s life, her creative path and overcoming difficulties. The director is confident that he can make a great “champion” movie. The Olympic champion will undertake the consultancy of the project.

Let us recall that in January last year, Roman Kostomarov was admitted to intensive care due to pneumonia and was put into a medically induced coma. Against the background of sepsis, he began to have problems with blood circulation. In February 2023, it was learned that both the skater’s feet and hands were amputated. The athlete was fitted with a prosthesis and took to the ice with skates in December 2023.
