Open water swims, races and relays: what will happen at the Triathlon League and FTR & Ironstar Krylatskoe 2023 festival?

We already know what we’re going to do this weekend. Our editors will go to Triathlon League FTR & Ironstar Krylatskoe 2023, the large-scale sports festival that will be held in Krylatskoye, one of the most beautiful places in Moscow. Women’s and children’s races, children’s triathlon competitions, open water swimming, Olympic triathlon races and Supersprint Relay team relay await participants. But this, of course, is not all. In addition, there will be Russian Triathlon Championships (triathlon and triathlon flag disciplines) and All-Russian triathlon competitions in the sprint triathlon discipline among juniors.

The sports festival will start on August 18 with the Starkids children’s race. Young athletes (under 7 years old) will run 500 m, participants aged 8 to 12 years – 1000 m. After the competition, each child will be given a finisher’s medal, gifts from partners and candies. Sponsors Also on the first day, the women’s Ironlady race will be held. The girls will run 5km along the rowing canal embankment and at the finish line they will receive praise from the audience, a beautiful medal and flowers from the organizers.

The second day looks like it will be less interesting! On August 19, triathlon races will be held in the Olympic distance between amateurs and professionals. Participants will overcome 1.5 km swimming stages, 40 km cycling stages and 10 km race stages in stages.

The Supersprint Relay race will be held on the last day of the festival. A team of two or four will complete all three stages of the triathlon: 250m swimming, 5km cycling and 1.5km running. Then there will be a children’s RTF trophy, in which children aged 4 to 12 will take part in different distances. A nice finale of the event are the Swimstar open water swimmers at distances of 1 and 2 nautical miles (1,852 km and 3,704 km, respectively).
