It is thought to spend the winter in Mexico as this moth cannot withstand the low winter temperatures in Texas. Therefore, the butterfly traveled at least 4,635 km; this is the distance measured from release to their wintering grounds and north to Austin, Texas, USA. However, the actual distance traveled could have been twice that figure.
