WHAT IS STRABISMO?
If a person suffers from strabismus, one eye is looking directly at the object he is observing and the other eye is misaligned.
It can be directed inwards (exotropia, ‘strabismus’ or ‘strabismus’), outward (esotropia or ‘wall eyes’), upward (hypertropia) or downward (hypotropia).
Strabismus may be constant or intermittent.
About one in 20 children have strabismus or strabismus, but esotropia is much less common.
Strabismus usually develops in the first three years of life but can appear later.
It usually appears in early childhood, sometimes within a few weeks after the baby’s birth.
Many historical painters suffered from this condition, including Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, and Rembrandt.
Lady Louise Windsor is also believed to have had this condition.
