Starring John Malkovich Seneca – On the Origin of Earthquakes and Alex Gibney’s self-titled documentary on Boris Becker will have its world premiere at the upcoming Berlin International Film Festival next year. The projects are among six titles to be screened in the festival’s Berlinale Special Gala section, which will also feature Brandon Cronenberg. infinity poolwith Alexander Skarsgård, Mia Goth and Cleopatra Coleman and Todd Field’s tar.
infinity pool will have its European premiere at the festival, while Field and tar Stars Cate Blanchett and Nina Hoss as well as composer Hildur Guðnadóttir will visit the festival to give a public reading as part of the Berlinale Talents section.
The festival also announced its first project from the Berlinale series section: ZDF’s eco-thriller The swarm (The swarm), based on the bestseller of the same name by Frank Schätzing. The project follows an international group of scientists studying mysterious marine phenomena that pose a global threat.
Seneca – On the Origin of Earthquakes, is a historical drama directed by Robert Schwentke and starring Louis Hofmann, Geraldine Chaplin, Lilith Stangenberg and Samuel Finzi. The story focuses on the relationship between Seneca, played by Malkovich, and Nero, the infamous emperor he had mentored since childhood and who also accused him of plotting his assassination.
Gibney’s documentary about disgraced former tennis champion Becker examines all aspects of the life of the six-time Grand Slam winner, who won Wimbledon when he was just 17 but is now in prison for withholding assets and loans to avoid he must pay his debt. tumultuous time, much of which ended up in the media.
