Turning your scarf into a chic and warm balaclava is TikTok’s viral fashion hack

For many, the balaclava would be reserved only for ski holidays (hence the name mountain pass), or for children if one is in the city. Blame the fear of being mistaken for a thief, perhaps, but also because it can be difficult to find balaclavas (its another name, again) to your liking (not to be confused with baklava, a delicious Ottoman and Persian dessert). However, it can be easy to cleverly wrap your scarf around your neck and head to make it a chic and warm balaclava, as this viral TikTok video illustrates.

If this video is close to a million views, many others present this same technique which obviously does not date back to yesterday, nor to the invention of TikTok. But the Chinese social network has the advantage of putting it back, in a synthetic way, so that almost everyone can try it if the heart is there.

How to easily put your scarf into balaclava mode?

Then just take a fairly long scarf (preferably quality wool for more warmth), place it against the front of your neck, loop it around, then loop the two sides in front of the loop you created. Once this large knot has been improvised in front to keep your throat warm, you can then unfold the segment of the scarf that sits at the neck to spread it out over the top of your head. And voila!

It’s practical, chic, warm and avoids having to walk around with a hat or balaclava in addition to the scarf. A piece of advice that is priceless for people who feel dizzy! Otherwise, Etsy is full of cute balaclavas, often handmade.
