Billy Joel Postpones Madison Square Garden Show, Citing Ongoing Virus Infection

Billy Joel has postponed his final concert this year at Madison Square Garden due to a “viral infection”.

The postponement was announced Saturday night before the scheduled Monday performance. It has been moved to June 2nd.

“We understand the inconvenience this is causing to everyone who purchased tickets and we apologize for this unexpected circumstance,” management said in a statement, adding that Joel was under “strict medical orders.” Joel posted a similar message on his Twitter on Sunday morning. , who explained that he was “hoping to be closer to full recovery now”, but “unfortunately that didn’t happen”.

Tickets for Monday’s show will be honored for the June 2nd concert. However, that date could change if the New York Knickerbockers make it deep into the NBA playoffs.

Joel last postponed shows in January of this year when the Omicron strain of COVID-19 spread to New York. The postponed shows were played in August.

Joel’s concerts are scheduled to resume on January 13 and 27. Joel recently announced that he will be teaming up with Stevie Nicks for a series of shows on March 10 at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, with additional performances by the duo through September. 2023 in different cities.

Joel performed at The Garden in a residency dating back to January 2014.
