Russia will not participate in the 2024 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee approved the sanctions against Russia. This means that Russian athletes will not be able to participate in the Summer Olympic Games, which are scheduled to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024. This was learned from a post on the IOC website. In addition, Belarus will not be able to participate in the Games.

Sports competitions sponsored by any international federation shall not be held on the territory of the aforementioned states. Symbols of Russia and Belarus will be banned in all tournaments. In addition, the Olympic orders of the Russian President and Deputy Prime Minister will be cancelled.

“Participation in sports competitions should be based solely on the athlete’s merit and respect for the rules of the sport. Another reason for the protective measures was that in some countries the safety of athletes from Russia and Belarus could no longer be guaranteed.”

By the way, recently it became known that Kamila Valieva could be disqualified for four years and cancel her results. Recall that at the last Olympics, a doping scandal broke out around Kamila Valieva. A prohibited substance was found in the sample given by the athlete in December 2021. They wanted to exclude her from participation, but literally a day before the start of individual competitions for women, it was decided to admit her to the tournament.
