Fox News is saying goodbye to paid contributor Lara Trump following the launch of her father-in-law Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
“We appreciate Lara’s valuable contributions to Fox News Media programming,” a network spokeswoman said Saturday.
The network has previously terminated the employment of people who launch or are closely associated with presidential campaigns. Donald Trump announced his latest presidential candidate last month. During his 2020 presidential campaign, she served as a senior consultant and deputy.
Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump, joined the network as a paid contributor in March 2021. The announcement was made on fox and friendsand she told the hosts: “I feel like I’ve been an unofficial member of the team for so long. You know it’s been quite a joke for the last five years, I’ve been there so many times that the guards thought maybe we should just give you a key I’m so excited to be part of the team.
At the time, Lara Trump was considering running for the North Carolina Senate and would have had to leave her role if she had. But she didn’t. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who became a Fox News staffer after serving as Trump’s press secretary, ended that role when she launched her campaign for Arkansas governor. The Los Angeles Times first reported on Lara Trump’s departure.
