Who can resist such an invitation: Twitter owner Elon Musk says comedian Kathy Griffin could return to Twitter – but he misspelled her name as ‘Kathie’.
In a tweet today, Musk wrote: “Kathie Griffin, Jorden Peterson & Babylon Bee are recovering.” So that Griffin doesn’t feel like a target for the misspelling, right-handed writer Peterson actually spells his name Jordan.
Griffin, who was suspended for impersonating Musk in satirical posts, responded to the invitation on Instagram.
“Dear Eilon,” Griffin replied on Instagram. “You screwed it up, idiot. I go down to my basement full of heads. It’s your turn. Xxoo, the decapitator”
Referring to Donald Trump’s suspended account, Musk wrote that “no decision has been made yet”.
The Babylon Bee, a conservative satirical website that lost its posting rights in March after a transphobic tweet about US Deputy Health and Human Services Secretary Rachel Levine, responded to Musk’s decision with: “We’re back. Let that sink in.” The site’s March 19 tweet about Levine remains on Bee’s side.
Peterson, a clinical psychologist and far-right author, was banned from Twitter last summer for a crude post calling transactor Elliot Page dead. A copy of this message remains on Peterson’s reactivated account, which now has a pinned message that reads “I’m back.” Thanks @ElonMusk” over a photo from Jack Nicholson’s “Here’s Johnny” scene The glow.
Musk named the three reactivated accounts in a tweet today, announcing that Twitter’s new “policy is free speech, not free speech.” Negative/hate tweets are maximally devalued and demoted, so no advertising or other revenue for Twitter. You won’t find the tweet unless you specifically look for it, which is no different than the rest of the internet.
