Joshua Johnson’s NBC News Now Show, which has been streaming nightly for the past year, airs its final episode on Friday.
Johnson also said he would be leaving the network. He says his goodbyes during the final show.
Now tonight with Joshua Johnson has been on the air since it debuted last year at 8pm ET.
“We are starting with a new program direction that we will announce soon. We thank Joshua for his contributions and wish him well,” said a spokesperson for the network. Meanwhile, a rotating group of anchors fills the trench with ash Now tonight. The staff is not affected.
Johnson began hosting the streaming show Dec. 6 after his MSNBC show The week with Joshua Johnson completed in fall 2021. He became an anchor for the network in 2020. Johnson is the former host of the NPR syndicated series 1A, produced by WAMU. He will continue to appear on other NBC News platforms after the launch of his new series.
On Twitter, Johnson said creating and anchoring the show was “an honor.” A network source said Johnson was offered an analyst role but turned it down. It can appear as a guest on the network.
Ship and anchor @NBCNowTonight was an honor. Tonight (Friday 18 November) this journey ends.
