It’s still pretty absurd to think so Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3. It was such an epic announcement, and now fans can’t wait to see what the madness will be like when Ryan ReynoldsDeadpool and Wolverine embark on an adventure together.
We have a small update to share with you thanks to Variety, who are reporting that Reynolds is now referring to the currently untitled Deadpool 3 as the Deadpool/Wolverine movie. He also told them that he “can’t wait” to get started. He then shared some insights into what kinds of things draw him to a project saying:
“Sometimes it’s the story. Sometimes it’s the people. When things really work, it’s all of the above. I count ‘Deadpool’ 1 and 2 in that category, along with ‘Free Guy’ and ‘Adam Project.’ When you get to make movies with the people you love, that’s what I imagine it feels like with cocaine.”
Jackman previously opened up about what made him change his mind about retiring from the role of Wolverine and what brought him back. He said that all changed in 2016 when he went to see Dead Pool:
“I went to the screening of ‘Deadpool’. 20 minutes went by and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was “48 Hours” with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here.
It was on a trip to the beach with his family that Jackman made the decision to return. He ended up calling Reynolds, whom he’d begged “in the newspaper” for a Wolverine-Deadpool movie. He said, “I think, actually, he gave up. I think it was a big shock for him. There was a huge pause, and then he said, ‘I can’t believe the timing of this.’” Reynolds was about to meet Kevin Feige from Deadpool 3. Pretty crazy how it all came together! Jackman also had this to say about coming back:
“I can tell you I’m going to have the time of my life. I can tell you that I’ve started back in the gym and I’m eating a lot, and I’m feeling bad for the cast of The Music Man with the amount of protein shakes I’m taking.
“It’s a lot of fun. It’s been five years and I never thought I’d be back. And I’m really, really excited to be back. I know a little bit about the script but I won’t tell you.”
When asked if Deadpool 3 will feature an angrier or kinder Logan Jackman who said, “There’s no choice. He’s definitely angrier, grumpier, and he’s going to give Ryan Reynolds a lot of free shots, let me tell you,” Jackman joked, before concluding with “Physically, that is.”
The highly anticipated film will hit theaters on November 8, 2024.
