Searchlight’s Sam Mendes Love Drama ‘Empire Of Light’ Gets New Trailer – Update

UPDATED 09:22: Searchlight Pictures has unveiled a new trailer for the romantic drama rich in lightwith Oscar winner Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter) and BAFTA winner Michael Ward (big boy), which hits US theaters on December 9.

The latest nominee from Oscar-winning writer-director Sam Mendes (1917) is set in and around a faded old cinema in an English seaside town in the early 1980s. The protagonists are Hilary (Colman), a film executive who struggles with her mental health, and Stephen (Ward), a new tenant who longs to escape from this provincial town where he faces adversity on a daily basis. Both Hilary and Stephen find a sense of connection through their unlikely and tender relationship and experience the healing power of music, film and community.
